Writing x AI: Where do the twain meet?

👋 Hi Reader,

If you have known me for a while and have been a subscriber here, you might describe my relationship with AI as a dramatic jilted lover with massive withdrawal symptoms.

I have hemmed and hawed at the prospect of writing with the help of AI. I have tried ChatGPT, Claude, and the plethora of tools available which claim to make AI-written-slop sound human. (Yes, tried that one too)

So unless you are a writer whom I have known pre-ChatGPT for your writing, I am going to take anybody’s opinion favoring AI-enabled written content with a slight (heavy?) hesitation.

For example, I love when Dan Shipper and the Every team write about any topic under the sun. You would have known by now that I scour through every topic they talk about, and make a point of sharing my perspective on what it means for me as a creator at LetterStack.

So naturally when their blessed team of writers started talking about dabbling with AI-assisted written content, I came back with yet another attempt to give AI a fresh chance. And it did not disappoint.

The key here?

As Katie Parrott from Every puts it: How do you keep your writing weird in the age of AI.

I would not let out any spoilers, and would urge you to subscribe to read this article. I would also recommend that you pay attention (pronounced: devour) what she talked about in this essay way back in June, and try to put that into practice to feel the difference.

Note: If you have stuck around to read it completely, do have a look at the comments section for this one. It will take you into rabbit holes, you never knew, existed.

Have you been trying to dabble with writing your newsletter content with AI tools too? What has your experience been like?

👋 Hi Reader, Thank you for your patience over the last 10 days. I was due to write this issue on the morning of Feb 28th from Austin, when I heard about the war breaking out. Since then, I had just one priority: to get to my family back home safely as soon as possible. I am now back home after a protracted series of flight delays and cancellations, so let me get right to the task at hand: my takeways from NMS 2026. Pre-event meetup - 25th Feb I was at this event last year. And I was surprised...

👋 Hi Reader, Apologies for the radio silence this week. I had been making my way halfway across the world, so I can attend the New Media Summit in Austin on Feb 26-27. I spent the last couple of days figuring out which city I woke up in :) which is why I missed the usual Sat morning Eastern schedule for this issue. Matt McGarry from Growletter has been one of my primary go-to people for everything related to newsletters. When Growletter organized their first-ever newsletter summit in Feb 2025...

👋 Hi Reader, There’s a school of thought that you might never become rich or famous building for too niche an audience. That you might not be able to reach out to enough subscribers to make your newsletter habit worthwhile. That no body posts videos about your niche online. But that’s where the opportunity lies: To build content in a void that your target audience is craving for. Alexis Grant understood that. Her first two companies got acquired, and while going through the acquisition...
